Stella Azzurra – Bowen Therapist
The Bowen Technique is a modality of treatment for the body, working on muscles, tendons and peripheral nerves. A few moves with very little pressure re-balance the body and restore self-healing power.
Problems which can be helped by Bowen include:
- Back pain
- Knee problems
- Frozen shoulder
- Stiff neck and whiplash injury
- Stress or anxiety
- Digestive and respiratory problems
A treatment is usually completed in 45 minutes with a follow-up session between 5 and 10 days later. Often only a few sessions are needed to provide lasting relief of problems.
A Bowen practitioner performs rolling moves and then leaves the patient for a couple of minutes to integrate and process each impulse. This process, which takes about 2 minutes to complete, resets the body releasing pain and tension in the tissues. Bowen is a non invasive therapy which can be performed on skin or light clothing.
My interest in the body, anatomy, movement and the body-mind connection started about 10 years ago during my degree in Dance Studies.
I turned to Bowen because of postural misalignment and was amazed at how this technique was not only capable of restoring alignment but also of revitalising and detoxifying the whole body-mind system.
